In the third part, the metaphor is first raised. The earth has two meanings: first, able to produce; second, able to support. The two citations from the Bequeathed Teaching attain only the first meaning. Above, 'all good' applies generally to the contaminated and uncontaminated, and the movable and immovable. Below, 'concentration and wisdom' must be applied to the noble path, residing solely in the uncontaminated and immovable. 'Further...' and following next cites the vinaya text to simultaneously show both meanings. This is text from the 'Chapter on the Poṣadha' of our own vinaya. As for calling it a sūtra, the designation extends across the Tripiṭaka because all are the Buddha's words. (Anciently it was said to be the Sujāta-sūtra, but upon inspecting that text there is no such passage.) First the text is cited. 'Namely...' and following matches the metaphor. The sūtra says 'root of practice', which means able to produce. The above three are categorized by metaphor: first, the teacher; second, the feet; third, the earth. Matching them to the Dharma: the first is guiding beings, the second is gathering practices, and the third is being able to produce merit.
