《毘婆沙論》，初中。初句牒所受，下列四義。尸羅，梵言，此翻為戒。今以梵語，猶含多義，故反釋之。
In the Vibhāṣā-śāstra, [as to the first part]: the opening sentence quotes what is received, and below, four meanings are listed. Śīla is a Sanskrit word, translated here as "precepts". Since the Sanskrit term still contains multiple meanings, it is therefore explained by reversing [back to its source].
