《華嚴》偈，上句示功。無上菩提者，以果彰因也。次句勸修。下半偈明聖所歎。以順教故。故下，祖師示意。望前已引，故言重也。

In the verse from the Avataṃsaka, the upper line shows the efficacy. "Unsurpassed bodhi" manifests the cause through the fruit. The next line encourages cultivation. The lower half of the verse explains that it is praised by the sages because it accords with the teaching. Below "Therefore...", the Patriarchal Master indicates the meaning. Looking back to what was already cited earlier, he says it is repeated.
