Second, distinguishing the provenance. It generally indicates the general and the restricted. Why does the heading say "delimitation"? Answer: "General" means identity of essence; "restricted" means distinction of marks. If identical, it is briefly classified; if distinct, it must be shown in detail. The heading takes its name from the restricted, hence it says "delimitation." The subsequent section on employing persons is analogous to this. Question: What are the marks of the general and the restricted? Answer: One is place, and the second is persons. Regarding place, the two boundaries of ritual-action and natural are general; ritual-action has three types and natural is divided into six, which are restricted. Among persons, the two positions of individual persons and the saṃgha are general; individuals have three levels and the saṃgha is divided into four kinds, which are restricted. The words head the title, serving as the outline for the entire chapter; only by briefly knowing the items can one begin to search through the text.
