Under "External Demeanor": the two passages above are as before. Under the Dharmaguptaka-vinaya, it first presents the text. That [vinaya] merely says "one should not do so," which is a reprimand. Since sitting and standing are contrary, by principle it is not a sign of harmony; therefore, it is judged as dividing the Saṃgha. This is like the previously cited passage on "those who should come," etc.: that is not a sign of harmony, and therefore it is called dividing the Saṃgha; this makes clear that present failure to sit is also not a sign of harmony, and is unmistakably divisive. As below, it cites an analogy. In the precept on taking sufficient food, it is explained by distinguishing the four postures. The later phrase brings them to an agreement, referring to this very section.
