四中。差別之言，須通人處；文但明人；人分四位，隨事用舍，故云進止。選取堪能，秉御證正；已外隨喜，多少從之，故云優劣。然須更知處之差別。作法三種，自然六相；各攝分齊，竝如前篇。

In the fourth: the words 'distinction and difference' must apply to both persons and places; the text only clarifies persons. Persons are divided into four ranks, employed or set aside according to the matter; hence it says 'participation or exclusion'. Selecting those capable to preside, direct, witness, and verify; those outside them rejoice along, their number conforming accordingly; hence it says 'superior and inferior'. However, one must further know the distinctions of places: three kinds of ceremonial boundaries, six marks of natural boundaries; the boundaries encompassed by each are all as in the preceding chapter.
