The eighth. Under 'invalidity of persons': the first line is the invalidity of the one for whom it is performed. From 'Boundary' downward is the invalidity of the one able to perform it. The upper line explains separating from the assembly; from 'Saṃgha' downward reveals what is not the [proper] number. 'Five hundred' is merely citing the maximum to show that it is not easily attained. 'Fifty procedures' is based on the more than sixty persons in the 'Quorum' chapter; however, the eleven persons in the fourth gate can still generate goodness, so the number is reduced in the statement. Under 'invalidity of procedure': 'eight kinds' refers to the ten preparatory stages in the ordination procedure; excluding the partial procedures and the condition of teaching to generate the precepts; the Random Karmavācanā also establishes only eight (first, requesting the preceptor; second, positioning; third, motion to assign; fourth, going out to question; fifth, calling in; sixth, requesting the precepts; seventh, the preceptor's motion; eighth, questioning before the saṃgha); the above is the invalidity of conditions. From 'And' downward directly shows the invalidity of procedure. Under 'invalidity of matter': the three stations of saṃgha procedures all exclude boundary invalidity, because of the restricted location.
