In the sixth [condition], the Commentary states: "Internally admiring the superior Dharma, externally relying on the superior deportment; body and mind depend on each other, like fish having water." Question: How does this differ from the fourth item under "those capable of receiving"? Answer: The former concerns the deportment of the novice assembly, while this is based on the requisites of the fully ordained monks; the capable and the recipient, the internal and the external—are they not clear! Unifying the above six conditions, they return to four kinds; they are correlated in simple or complex ways with persons, Dharma, matter, and place. Furthermore, if the first five are incomplete, receiving [the precepts] is definitely not accomplished. If the sixth has a defect, it allows much dispute; but according to the Patriarch's intent, by analogy it is also not accomplished, as will be distinguished in detail later. Furthermore, according to the *Karmavācanā*, yet another kind is added, namely, "during the time of the Buddha's Dharma". The *Abhidharma-śāstra* says: "When it comes to the extinction of the Dharma, all boundary delimitations and precept receptions are lost and extinguished."
