Seventh, on the loss of a master: in the list and explanation, first, explaining that the upādhyāya is not lost. "Lacking virtue and relying on another" means one can only depart from him, but the mutual dependence remains. From "Because" downward, showing the reason why he is not lost. The initial intention upon receiving ordination is to attend closely upon him for the rest of one's life; it is unlike the niśraya-master, where there is room to make a request again. Second, explaining that the niśraya-master can be lost. In discussing the niśraya, there is only the requesting dharma; in principle it divides into three types, hence it says "examine and rectify." If one loses the requesting dharma, one must repeat it; if one loses the lower two, it is merely generating a thought, as explained later.
