In "Specific Invitation", the first section: from the beginning to "is not pure" clarifies the procedure for an initial invitation. Second, from "If ninety days..." onward clarifies the procedure for continuing offerings. In the first part there are again two: first, clarifying the prior invitation. An extended invitation means without a limitation of days. From "To..." onward clarifies their coming to assemble, first clarifying the complete assembly without withholding. "Previously having no specific invitation" means that, outside the extended invitation, everything is universally provided without specifically summoning anyone; thus, from the second day onward, even if one withholds, there is no fault. From "Unable..." onward, second, clarifies having withholding yet avoiding fault. "Unable to be without withholding" means that the food is insufficient to provide for them. An exhorting monk is a gate-keeping master. Saying "sixty rains-retreats" is an arbitrary mention of a large number; as for "and so forth", one calls out the announcement reducing successively down from fifty-nine. Saying "none at all" means that an empty call completes the legal procedure to avoid later trouble. From "If not..." onward clarifies incurring an offense by violating the teaching. Both having it and not having it incur offenses, the textual marks of which can be known. The two procedures are striking the mallet and calling the rains-retreat seniority. (Alternatively, the first day and everyday constitute two.) In the subsequent "Continuing Offerings": "the aforementioned procedure" is because it continues without interruption. The necessity of calling out the announcement for monastic rooms and the like is modeled on calling all four requisites at the beginning of the rains-retreat; food flavors are common, and the procedure of calling also continues, so it is not called again; rooms and lodgings belong specifically, and the time limit has expired, so they must be called out specifically.
