本宗七緣，一病緣中。且舉至輕以攝餘重。劈普激反，之裂也。疏云：身抱患惱，若不開別，無由濟命。

Among the seven conditions of our school, in the first, "Condition of Illness": it provisionally cites the lightest to subsume the remaining heavier ones. "Pi" (劈) is read pu and ji, meaning to split. The Commentary says: "When the body harbors suffering and afflictions, if an exception for separation is not granted, there is no way to preserve life."
