In the third [section], the text lists four medicines, each having proper and improper times. Timely medicines are based on before noon; afterward is improper time. For the seven-day [medicines], within the limit is proper time; exceeding the limit is improper time. For lifetime [medicines], the Commentary says: taking them with illness is called proper time; arbitrarily taking them without illness is called improper time. If they are not oral formulas, they are judged according to timely food; therefore below, the interlinear note says that the offense has light and grave grades—this is it. The note is divided into two: first, it specifically indicates lifetime [medicines]. Below, from "And also", it generally clarifies the three medicines. Below, from "Therefore", it cites proof, namely the exception clause of the precept against eating unreceived [food]. This makes it clearly known that the four medicines are universally restricted.
