Second, regarding the Vinayadvāviṃśatividyā-śāstra, first the treatise text is cited. According to that text, there is no character ling 令 ("to cause"), so there is no doubt it was a copyist's error. Next, the commentary's explanation is cited: first, explaining "own-nature" refers precisely to the precept-essence. "Desiring..." onwards explains "seeking and obtaining," meaning having something needed. "Here..." onwards explains "this place," meaning the place of receiving food, which below is referred to as "on ground and in water." "Bestowing to others who do not need it" shows that the dharma of being capable of receiving extends to others. "Namely..." onwards eliminates irregularities: first pointing out the above capable recipient. "If..." onwards eliminates others who are incapable, for none abide in the own-nature. The single category of those who have been expelled encompasses the four karmas, twenty-five persons in all. If it is one of the persons of the thirteen impediments, it is accomplished for neither oneself nor another; the others are all accomplished for oneself, but with respect to not extending to others, it is generally said to be unaccomplished. (According to the later "Chapter on Confession," one undergoing probation accomplishes reception.)
