In the fourth, in the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya, first hanging down with a rope is clarified: this was because an araṇya bhikṣu entered a well to draw water, and when mealtime arrived, fearing the water would fill up again, he ate down in the well, having a pure person put food in a vessel, tie it with a rope, and suspend it downward; the bhikṣu pulled the rope with one hand and received it underneath with the other, saying, "Received, received." Being improper decorum, it incurs a duṣkṛta. "Even..." onwards clarifies throwing from afar. "Samantapāsādikā..." onwards harmonizes the differences.
