對顯中,理懺者。此約觀慧推窮業性,明見真理;罪得伏滅,故云懺也。文中初標根性。且望修事,通名利根;若對三觀智用淺深,自分利鈍,如後可見。觀下,示觀行,初句示所觀境。由下,明能觀智,上四句明達妄見理。下二句明行成罪滅。分謂分辨,即觀照也。此中通示理觀;無生之言,總下大小三種之理。

In the comparative elucidation: regarding deśanā through principle, this concerns using contemplative wisdom to investigate the nature of karma to the utmost and clearly see true principle, whereby offenses are subdued and eradicated; hence it is called deśanā. In the text, it first marks the faculty and nature: provisionally looking toward cultivating transactions, they are universally called sharp faculties; but if correlated with the depth or shallowness of the wisdom-application of the three contemplations, sharp and dull are distinguished among themselves, as can be seen later. From 'contemplating...' downward, it indicates contemplative practice. The first phrase indicates the object contemplated. From 'due to...' downward, it clarifies the contemplating wisdom: the upper four phrases clarify penetrating delusion and seeing principle; the lower two phrases clarify the completion of practice and eradication of offenses. 'Fen' means to discern, which is contemplative illumination. Here, it generally indicates contemplation on principle; the phrase 'unborn' comprehensively encompasses the principles of the three kinds [of contemplations] below, both Lesser and Great.
