2.2117

小眾中，初科，先引《十誦》判定。以懺主白和，身外非僧，故無單白。次引《四分》釋妨。彼即以別望僧為小，此就僧中對事用人為小；恐執彼文為妨，故準《僧祇》例決。上卷即〈集僧篇〉。

Under the small assembly, the first section first cites the Daśādhyāya-vinaya to determine it. Because the master of confession makes the motion of agreement, outside his own person there is no Saṅgha, so there is no single jñapti. Next, it cites the Dharmaguptaka to resolve an objection: that text regards an individual as small in comparison to the Saṅgha, whereas here it is small in terms of employing persons relative to the business within the Saṅgha. Fearing that one might cling to that text as an objection, it determines it by analogy based on the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya. The upper fascicle is the 'Chapter on Assembling the Saṅgha'.
