Under extra entities, the first section: The former explains the six items. From 'If' onward explains the one hundred and one items. If one has resolved to hold them, they definitely do not need to be assigned to another. If they are not resolved to be held, some are assigned and some are not, such as rain cloaks, wound-covering robes, and the like; even if the procedure is not performed, they do not need to be assigned at all; other clothes, towels, and the like are identical to extra items and must be assigned. 'Second, accessories to the one hundred and one items': if they ought to have the assignment procedure performed, that was already shown in the section above; this refers to those that definitely do not require it, hence they are separately distinguished. *Jué* is pronounced *jiǎo*, meaning straw sandals. The sixteen vessels are two pots and two bottles, four basins, four covers, and four ladles; both bhikṣus and bhikṣuṇīs are granted exceptions, but assigning or not assigning differs. In the third: 'heavy items used as accessories' means things needed for one's person; the eight impurities in substance are not [admissible], while quilts and mattresses are heavy in usage. Since they do not enter [the assignment to] purity, they incur no offense of excess. In the fourth: first, direct explanation. From 'Not' onward refutes ancient masters: first quoting ancient errors. From 'Now' onward reveals the present interpretation: first showing the correct meaning. From 'Not' onward distinguishes the schools. The Dharmaguptaka and the Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā are cited as in the extra robe precept. In the fifth: five kinds of conditions for exceptions; the upper three are not yet received, and the lower two are determined after being received.
