三中，初示古。彼謂但不與同犯，即堪對懺，不必全淨。此下，斥非，初句略斥。彼下，決通，初決《五分》開意。今下，申今不開，上二句義判。律下，準例。即〈說戒〉中文。

In the third [part], it first shows the ancient view: they claimed that as long as one does not share the same violation, one is fit to face for repentance, without needing to be entirely pure. From "This" onward, it refutes the error: the first clause briefly refutes it. From "That" onward, it settles and clarifies: first, it clarifies the intention of the exception in the Mahīśāsaka-vinaya. From "Now" onward, it presents why it is not permitted now: the upper two clauses judge by principle. From "The vinaya" onward, it follows the precedent: namely, the text in "Poṣadha".
