In the first answer stating that they are exhausted: correlating the precepts into kinds (zhong) and categories (lei), the text originates in the Sarvāstivāda school; both the Precept Commentary and the Meaning Manual cite it; it uses only the four pārājikas to subsume all precepts. The name "kind" (zhong) is general, with the respective article-marks of the various categories each being a kind; the name "category" (lei) is restricted, referring only to the various classes from saṃghāvaśeṣa downward, which are categories of the kinds. Now, in explaining kinds and categories, it is provisionally based on a specific correlation: "kinds" are the four pārājikas, because their roots are distinct; "categories" are the remaining chapters, because they arise as branches; even if there were an infinite number, they would not exceed these four.
