In the explanation, regarding the first section, the *Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā*: "a lump of mud" shows the boundary of the offense. In that school, the middling and lower sthūlātyayas serve as the preparatory stage for a saṃghāvaśeṣa; in the text, it is contrasted with lighter offenses, so it merely speaks of the "measure." *Samantapāsādikā*: concluding with a sthūlātyaya is identical to the above. Concluding with a saṃghāvaśeṣa upon deciding to cease is because, although a lump of mud remains, the project is completed. *Mahāsāṃghika*: for all materials, it only considers the final one, not restricted to a lump of mud. Utilizing it being a duṣkṛta is because it was fundamentally unlawful, so it is prohibited and not permitted for use; it states: smoking a bowl, making robes, reciting, or contemplating within it are all vinayātikrama. In the event of death, etc., permitting the Saṃgha to use it is because the continuity has been severed.
