2.623

釋第一中，初文，先示罪相。五衣者，附明尼制；祇支，覆肩，皆入制故。非下，釋上餘衣，初正釋。長下，點古。波謂餘衣言通長物，離亦吉故。

In explaining the first, the first text: it first indicates the characteristics of the offense. As for "five robes," it incidentally clarifies the nuns' regulations; the saṃkakṣikā and shoulder-cover robe both fall under the prohibitions. From "Non-" down, it explains the "other robes" above; first it explains directly. From "Extra" down, it points out the ancient view: they held that "other robes" generally applied to extra items, and that separation from them was also a duṣkṛta.
