聚落中，初文，《四分》村聚，名相不別。《善見》約市且分名異。至論護衣，相亦無異。《多論》四句。聚止一家，則依聚界；多家即從家界。須此簡異，方無相濫。

Regarding settlements: in the opening passage, the Dharmaguptaka-vinaya makes no distinction in name or mark between a village and a settlement. The Samantapāsādikā divides their names tentatively based on the marketplace. When it comes to discussing the protection of robes, their marks also do not differ. The Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā has four propositions: if a settlement consists of only one family, one relies on the settlement boundary; if it has many families, one follows the family boundaries. Only with this differentiation will there be no confusion between them.
