The Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya has three exceptions: first, it permits a separate door, which is identical to a separate room. Below "if the Buddha," second, it permits encountering circumstances: setting up a barrier to partition it off makes the matter equivalent to different places. The note indicates that setting up a barrier must create two rooms that do not communicate with each other before one can avoid this fault. One end touches the inner wall, and one end extends beyond the door eaves; hence it says "corresponding." "Dang" is like reaching to. The final sentence prevents abuse. Below "if there is no," third, it clarifies mutually lying down and getting up as an expedient to avoid the fault. Saying "without merit" is because it causes the monk to violate the precept. In the note, because mutually sitting and lying down would properly violate sitting in a secluded place, it resolves this by according with the Mahīśāsaka-vinaya on having a companion.
