《多論》，初簡男子又二，初須相解。必下，二須俗男。女下，次簡女人。且分道俗。小石等女，亦應非犯。

In the Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā, first screening out males has two parts: first, they must understand the expressions; from "Must..." onward, second, they must be lay males. From "Women..." onward, next it screens out women. For now it distinguishes monastic and lay. Women who are like small stones, etc., should also not constitute an offense.
