Under "Determining the Measure of a Span", it first points out that the various divisions are not uniform. It is fully as explained under "unowned rooms" in the "Concomitant Marks" [chapter]. This merely summarizes that text; comparing them will make it clear. From "Now..." downward, it indicates what is adopted here. One foot two inches of the Zhou ruler equals one foot of the Tang ruler; seven inches two tenths equals six inches; the remaining eight tenths equals not less than seven tenths of the Tang ruler, hence it says "ample." The Tang statutes and the five or six kinds of rulers are all detailed as in the "Explaining Marks" [chapter] under the room precept.
