請俗法中，初出請詞。亦止一說。次明合說進否者。欲明此淨正教所許，文證可見。《涅槃》已如上引，故指云云。

In the method of requesting laypersons: First, it presents the words of the request. This also is spoken only once. Next, it clarifies whether speaking it is permissible or not: this is intended to make clear that this purification is permitted by the correct teachings, and the textual evidence is apparent. The *Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra* has already been cited above, hence it refers to it with 'and so forth.'
