三淨中，《善見》。注蓮華根，即藕漿也。葉中除菜，草果除瓜瓠等，竝時漿故。椰子列在草果，即今瓢子之類。古云南海樹生者，此乃木果，不在簡除。

In the three purifications, the Samantapāsādikā: poured lotus root refers to lotus root juice. Leaves exclude vegetables, and herbaceous fruits exclude melons, gourds, and so forth, because all are timely juices. Coconuts are listed under herbaceous fruits, namely what are now called calabashes and the like. Ancient sources said they grow on trees in the Southern Sea; these are woody fruits and are not included in the exclusion.
