答中，初科。但制宿觸，則免六過。三聖即三乘。《楞伽》證大乘，彼云寺舍烟不斷常作種種食；依實修行者，不應食此食。《十誦》證小乘，彼初聽結淨已，外道譏言禿居士舍倉庫食厨，白衣無別，因令僧坊外作。

In the answer, the first heading. Merely prohibiting overnight stay and handling avoids the six faults. The three sages are the three vehicles. The Laṅkāvatāra-sūtra confirms the Mahāyāna, where it says that in temple residences smoke does not cease and various foods are constantly prepared; those who practice according to truth should not eat this food. The Daśādhyāya-vinaya confirms the Śrāvakayāna; there, after it first permitted binding a pure [ground], non-Buddhists ridiculed them, saying, "The rooms, storehouses, and kitchens of these bald householders do not differ from those of laypeople," whereupon [the Buddha] commanded that it be done outside the monastic quarters.
