In lifetime [medicine]: that speech generates six offenses cites the ancient explanation. The ancients held that it generates non-reception, so identical to preventing offenses above, the names and numbers can be known. From "Without illness..." downward, it shows the present meaning. That is, the Precept Commentary states: speech does not generate offenses because, by the sage's exception and authorization, the method is not lost; even if touched, the reception is not lost. In the Vinaya, consuming it without illness is merely a duṣkṛta, because the method is present; if the method were not added, it would still be identical to a pāyattika. According to this, it only incurs one duṣkṛta for disobeying the instruction; since the method is not lost, no offense is generated. From "The remaining..." downward, it indicates proof: all three precepts state that if one consumes lifetime medicine without the condition of illness, it is a duṣkṛta.
