Dhūta is a Sanskrit word; its translation is as follows below. This is an admirable designation for an accomplished person, a fine title for eminent virtue. Worldly people are ignorant; following names while oblivious to reality, they call one with a short kerchief a "practitioner of the Path" and summon one with disheveled hair as a "dhūta." Those who possess the Path are ashamed to follow them; both name and reality are lost. If one possesses profound insight, one must rectify names.
