相生中，初文，先敘生起；故下，後列行相；初中，前明在初之意。資道濟身，衣食皆爾；但食有時限，衣必常須；故云最要，明合居先。若於下，顯須立所以。初敘過非。是下，示教立。少欲知足者，離貪求也。受取有方者，合制法也；制法如下所示。下之三科，一一竝有躡前生起，列相二段，尋文可分。

In the sequential arising: the first text first recounts the origin; from "Therefore..." below, it subsequently lists the marks of the practices. In the first part, it previously clarified the meaning of placing it at the beginning. As for supporting the Path and sustaining the body, both robes and food do this; but food has fixed times, whereas robes are always necessary; hence it says "most essential," clarifying that it properly comes first. From "If with regard to..." below, it shows why it must be established. First it recounts the faults. From "Right here..." below, it shows the teaching established. "Few desires and contentment" means being free from greed and seeking. "Accepting and taking with proper measure" conforms to the regulated method; the regulated method is shown as below. Each of the three sections below likewise has two parts: taking up the preceding to generate what follows, and listing the marks, which can be distinguished by examining the text.
