In [the explanation of] the ninth: First, the Mahāprajñāpāramitōpadeśa is cited to clarify what is emulated. The Buddha was born under an aśoka tree, attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, turned the wheel of the Dharma under a bhadra tree, and entered nirvāṇa under the sāla trees. Next, the Daśabhūmika is cited to show the ten benefits. Its text lists seven benefits, and it is now cited in full: 1. Having no weariness or suffering in seeking rooms and buildings. 2. Having no weariness or suffering in seeking bedding. 3. Having no weariness or suffering regarding what is loved. 4. Having no weariness or suffering regarding use and enjoyment. (The present text uses "having no weariness or suffering" to bracket above and below, listing the four matters separately in between.) 5. Having no name for a place (meaning having no name for a dwelling place). 6. Having no disputations (because there is mostly nothing to protect). 7. Following the four reliances. 8. Being easy to obtain and without fault. 9. Following the cultivation of the Path. 10. Having no crowded or noisy bustling places. (The present Transactions Manual omits the fifth, sixth, and ninth under the word "etc." The old commentary combined what is loved and use and enjoyment into one, and took the four reliances as four, which has misled others for a long time.)
