In the concluding reference: First, it refers to the preceding list. From "Comprehensively..." onward selects among various texts. That treatise first lists the names in general, next reveals the marks in general, and then explains each practice individually; for every single practice, it first shows the fault, second explains the reception, third reveals the virtue, and fourth discriminates the loss; hence it says "orderly and detailed in full," and so on. To cite and show it briefly for now, that text says: "What is receiving [the practice of] begging for food? If one accepts invitations from others, it obstructs one's own practice (showing the fault); 'From this day forward, I cut off accepting invitations from others and receive the practice of begging for food.'" (This is the method of reception; the other practices are all undertaken by making vows according to this; if one does not practice them, according to the Mahīśāsaka-vinaya below, they must be relinquished.) "What are the merits? Conforming to the heart's wish, one moves and rests freely, dissolves laxity, and cuts off arrogance (revealing the virtue). If one accepts an invitation from another, this is the loss of begging for food (discriminating the loss)." The other practices are all likewise; they appear fully in the second fascicle, and those who need them may look and read.
