In the first, the Dharmaguptaka-vinaya: First, it clarifies preparing what is necessary. From "If one sees..." onward, next clarifies receiving fellow practitioners; this further has three parts: first, welcoming them; from "Causing them..." onward, washing; from "Then handing over..." onward, giving food. From "If there are leftovers..." onward, the third clarifies the rule after eating. Giving to humans means beggars. Non-humans means giving to ghosts, spirits, birds, beasts, and the like. Clean ground or water is where there might be no humans or beasts; leaving it placed in a clean spot is intended for later giving. From "If there are thieves..." onward, the fourth clarifies the method for dealing with thieves. Prescribing knowing the seasons and times is to guard against the trouble of thieves. Below, citing the Daśādhyāya-vinaya, the textual proof can be understood. The Star Manual means books on yin-yang. Below, pointing to the Dharmaguptaka-vinaya refers to leaving food, and so forth.
