3.67

心念中，《五分》，初示緣。言獨住者，不問村野，但據無人。疏云：但界無人，即開心念；雖有非數，豈得對首。應下，出法，初示捨法。三說者，且依彼文。準《注羯磨》，亦同一說。然下，次出受法。

Under "Mental Formulation": in the Mahīśāsaka-vinaya, it first shows the causal conditions. "Living alone" refers merely to the absence of people, regardless of whether it is in a village or the wilderness. The commentary states: "As long as there are no people within the boundary, the mental formulation is permitted; even if there are those who do not count [toward a quorum], how could one face a counterpart?" "Should... below" presents the method: it first shows the method of relinquishment. The "three recitations" follows that text for now; according to the Annotated Karmavācanā, it likewise uses a single recitation. "However... below" next presents the method of reception.
