3.689

三中，初明造立。若是下，明淨治。任下，嚴飾。畫下，明雜穢。此土多用魚牛等膠；雖復腥鱣，且圖久固。應下，明供養。不下，示非法。酥塗乳洗，皆外道法故。

In the third [part], the first [passage] explains construction and erection. "If it is..." below explains cleansing and purification. "At will..." below [explains] ornamentation. "Painting..." below explains miscellaneous defilements. In this land, fish and ox glue are often used; although it is foul-smelling and fishy, it is nevertheless planned for long-lasting durability. "Should..." below explains offerings. "Not..." below indicates what is improper: anointing with ghee or washing with milk are all practices of non-Buddhists.
