In the third, the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa has three parts: first, possessing the deportment; second, facing the object; third, performing the rite. When the monastic assembly is viewed from the perspective of the laity, they are all in the position of a master; hence the commentary applies generally. In the three dharmas: Saying "so-and-so" is stating one's own name; "to the end of bodily life" states what is resolved; "take refuge in the Triratna" is that to which one turns. Saying "bringing forth goodness" clarifies that it is not a precept. The three concluding statements at the end serve to reiterate the entrustment, so that it is not forgotten or lost. Citing the Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā is to show whether it is accomplished or not; if one has a frivolous mind, then there is no non-informative [form].
