3.878

三中，初小者吊大，又二：一近處至者，容緩吊慰。二遠來奔赴，未暇慰問。次明大者吊小。依本儀者，謂不設禮。隨時坐立，謂任彼意。

In the third [part]: first, the junior offering condolences to the senior, which also has two [cases]: first, for one who arrives from nearby, condolences may be offered unhurriedly. Second, for one who rushes from afar, there is not yet leisure to offer condolences. Next, it explains the senior offering condolences to the junior. "According to the basic etiquette" means that no special ceremonial courtesy is arranged. "Sitting or standing according to the moment" means leaving it to his preference.
