八中，初明十事。樂著二字，貫下十事。作役言說多求，是掉散；睡眠即昏塞；此四合六塵，總為十矣。我下，次明聽受供給。眾具既闕，多起攀緣，禪法不成故。

In the eighth [section]: First, it explains the ten things. The two characters "delighting in and clinging to" run through the ten items below. Labor, talk, and excessive seeking constitute restlessness and distraction; sleep constitutes torpor and obstruction; combining these four with the six sense-objects makes ten in total. Below, "I..." next explains accepting offerings. When all necessities are lacking, many external entanglements arise, and thus the methods of dhyāna cannot be accomplished.
