In the seventh: the first section again has three parts: first, the procedure for ascending the latrine; from 'Should' down, second, the procedure for washing defilements; from 'May not' down, third, the prohibition of other activities. In the first part, there are six rules: 1. Go immediately, fearing the onset of illness; 2. Must take grass, which now refers to toilet sticks; 3. Yield to someone who came first; 4. Warn humans and spirits; 5. Instructions on placing robes; 6. Properly ascending the latrine. As for 'wearing robes', by analogy this seems to be the lower garments; that is said of an exposed place, where there is no space to take them off and put them down; here, where there is mostly cover, one must take them off. The rest as usual refers to the Etiquette for Instruction. In washing defilements: 'leaving the remaining water' is to prepare for another's use. 'Washing one by one' means following the use of each single object, taking purity as the limit; by analogy with the Vinaya of Pi-nai-ye, washing with seven kinds of earth is called pure.
