In the third [section], the Mahākāruṇika-sūtra: The text appears in the third [fascicle]. First, it adduces breaking [the precepts] to contrast with maintaining [them]; "nature" refers to the reception-essence. Next, it adduces having none to contrast with having [them]; "form" refers to demeanour and appearance. If it is so even for those without [virtue] who break [precepts], how much more so for those who receive and maintain them! When Maitreya appears in the world in the future when the human lifespan is eighty thousand years, preaching the Dharma in three assemblies, he will save immeasurable people; the disciples of Śākyamuni's bequeathed Dharma will be saved first in the initial assembly. Even if they are not saved, down to the last of the thousand Buddhas, Ruci, there will be none among Śākyamuni's disciples who is not completely saved; hence it is said "none will be left out." Ruci is written as Lūca in some sūtras, translated here as "weeping", being named after his compassion.
