In the next section, within the *Sudarśanavinaya-vibhāṣā*, there are two parts: first, it clarifies that patching and mending does not cause loss [of determination]. 'Patching when about to tear' is because in that treatise, once torn through, one immediately loses the formal determination. In the note, if based on the *Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā*, in principle one must re-apply the determination; 'according to preference' means one may adopt either as convenient. Following the meaning of the previous commentary, one must follow the *Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā*. From 'If washed' onward, next it explains non-loss based on color. 'Increasing color' means it becomes fresh and bright after washing; 'shedding' means fading; 'adding' means increasing.
