佛在舍衛國。但三衣比丘有僧伽梨故爛，十日中間便不能辦，聽畜長衣，為滿足故。六群比丘取同衣不足者，浣染點淨，寄人遊行。比丘舉過，佛訶制戒。

(The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. A bhikṣu who had only three robes had a saṃghāṭī that was worn out, and within ten days he was unable to procure [material]. [The Buddha] permitted keeping extra robes in order to obtain a sufficient amount. The group of six bhikṣus took matching robes that were insufficient, washed, dyed, and marked them, and entrusted them to others while traveling. The bhikṣus brought up the fault, and the Buddha rebuked them and formulated the precept.)
