若自恣多與衣者，若細，若薄，若不牢，應取作二重、三重、四重，當安緣作，當肩上揲垢膩處，應安鉤紐。若有餘殘，語居上言：「此餘殘衣，裁作何等？」若檀越言「我不以失衣故與，我曹自與大德耳」，若欲受者，便應受之。

If someone invites him and offers many robes: if they are fine, thin, or not durable, he should take them to make [a robe of] two layers, three layers, or four layers, should attach borders, should patch the places on the shoulder soiled by grease and grime, and should attach hooks and loops. If there are remnants left over, he should say to the householder: 'What should these remaining robes be cut and made into?' If the donor says, 'I did not give them because of your lost robes; we of our own accord simply give them to the venerable one,' then if he wishes to accept them, he may accept them.
