不犯者：若遣使告知，若彼言「我今不須，即相布施」，是比丘以時、軟語、方便索衣；若為作波利迦羅故與，以時、軟語索，若方便索得者。

As for non-offenses: if he dispatches a messenger to inform them; if that person says, 'I do not need it now; I hereby give it as a gift to you,' and this bhikṣu at the proper time, with gentle words and skillful means, seeks the robe; or if it was given to make a parikāra, and he seeks it at the proper time with gentle words, or if he obtains it by seeking with skillful means.
