佛在舍衛國。六群比丘純以白毛作新臥具，居士譏嫌「如王、大臣」。比丘舉過，佛因訶制。

The Buddha was in the country of Śrāvastī. The group of six bhikṣus made new rugs purely out of white wool, and householders criticized them, saying, 'They are like kings and ministers.' Bhikṣus raised the fault, and the Buddha rebuked them and laid down the precept on that basis.
