佛在舍衛國。居士出線與織師為跋難陀作衣，彼後至家，擇取好線與織師織，又許與價。居士譏嫌，比丘舉過。佛因訶制。

The Buddha was in the country of Śrāvastī. A householder provided thread to a weaver to make a robe for Upananda. Later, [Upananda] went to the house, selected fine thread to give to the weaver to weave, and promised to give him a price. Householders criticized him, and bhikṣus reported the fault. The Buddha rebuked him and laid down [the precept] on this account.
