1.71

佛在羅閱城。有檀尼迦，在閑靜處草屋坐禪，為人持去，乃作全成瓦屋，佛令打破。便詐宣王教，取彼要材，為王臣、人民訶責「無使入村，勿復安止」。比丘以過白佛，因斯如上制戒。

The Buddha was in Rājagṛha. There was Dhaniya, who sat in dhyāna in a grass hut in a quiet place. When it was taken away by others, he then made an entirely complete tile hut, which the Buddha ordered to be demolished. He then falsely proclaimed a royal decree to take essential timber. He was rebuked by the king's ministers and the people: 'Do not let him enter the village; do not let him reside here again!' The bhikṣus reported his transgression to the Buddha, and on account of this, the precept was instituted as above.
