佛在舍衛。時，拘薩羅國有無住村，居士作住處，常供一食。六群數受，居士言：「我本周給一宿住者。」比丘舉過白佛，因而制戒。

The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. At that time, in the country of Kosala there was an Unsettled Village. A householder built a resting place and regularly provided one meal. The group-of-six repeatedly received it. The householder said, 'I originally provided for those staying for a single night.' The bhikṣus raised the fault and reported it to the Buddha, who thereupon laid down the rule.
