佛在舍衛。十七群語六群言「云何入初禪？」乃至「云何得羅漢果？」報言：「汝說者，便已犯波羅夷。」彼往餘比丘問之，便訶責已，佛因制戒。

The Buddha was in Śrāvastī. The group of seventeen said to the group of six, "How does one enter the first dhyāna?" up to "How does one attain the fruit of an arhat?" [The group of six] replied, "What you have spoken already constitutes an offense of pārājika." They went to other bhikṣus and inquired of them; [the other bhikṣus] then rebuked [the group of six], and the Buddha accordingly laid down the precept.
